... but if you're using acronyms, MALDI gets thumped by ESI.
Can any one tellme please what is the advantages and disadvantages of each of them?
In a nutshell, MALDI is the quick and dirty one and ESI is the elegant one that couples to LCMS. Both ionize biomolecules well. See these links for much more detailed descriptions.
