Ion kinetic energy spectrometry (IKES)
Analysis in which a beam of ions is separated according to the ratio of translational energy to charge.
Note: In this context, kinetic energy is interpreted as translational, rather than vibrational or rotational kinetic energy.

ion kinetic energy spectrum in mass spectrometry

A spectrum obtained when a beam of ions is separated according to the translational energy-to-charge ratios of the ionic species contained within it. A radial electric field (E) achieves separation of the various ionic species in this way.
