Particle beam interface
Method for coupling liquid chromatography to mass spectrometry in which the effluent is passed through a heated capillary to form an expanding jet of vapour and aerosol particles. After passing through a skimmer that acts as a momentum separator, the beam impinges on a heated surface to form ions through chemical ionization at the surface or ionization of the resulting vapor in a chemical ionization or electron ionization source.
