DRAFT DEFINITION
Quantization error
The difference between the output and input of a quantization process used to convert an analog signal to a digital signal. There are two types of error: 1) measurement error during signal sampling, and 2) "rounding off" to the nearest quantized level; the accuracy of the approximation being dependent on the number of quantized levels set.
Considered between 2004 and 2006 but not included in the 2006 PAC submission
This is an unofficial draft definition presented for information and comment.
