Quantization error

DRAFT DEFINITION |
Quantization error |
---|
The difference between the output and input of a quantization process used to convert an analog signal to a digital signal. There are two types of error: 1) measurement error during signal sampling, and 2) "rounding off" to the nearest quantized level; the accuracy of the approximation being dependent on the number of quantized levels set. |
Considered between 2004 and 2006 but not included in the 2006 PAC submission |
