The prototype for this instrument was constructed at Texas A&M University in 1992 (Murray, K. K.; Russell, D. H., Liquid Sample Introduction for Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization. Anal Chem 1993, 65, 2534). A second instrument was constructed at Emory University in 1994 and moved to LSU in 2001. The instrument was retired in 2005.
